Dr. Michele Swift is a faculty member at Oregon State University’s College of Business, where she serves as Director of Assessment & Accreditation and an Assistant Professor of Teaching. Since joining OSU, she’s developed and taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including HR Management, Compensation Management, Organizational Behavior, and Professional Development. Currently, she teaches the Strategic HR Management course and Organizational Leadership Capstone course in the college’s MBA program. Her research has been published in the Journal of Management, Group & Organization Management, Human Resource Management, Journal of Knowledge Management, and Human Resource Management Review. She received her Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in HR Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations (MHRIR) from the University of Oregon. Prior to academia, Michele spent over 10 years in HR roles and HR systems consulting.
Michele has been a SHRM professional member since 1993, served on the board for her local SHRM chapter (Lane County HR Association) from 1993-1996 and 2016-2022, and joined the NHRMA board in 2021 as College Relations and became the NHRMA Vice President in 2023 before becoming President in 2024. She’s also the chapter advisor for the Oregon State SHRM student chapter (2017-present) and received the SHRM Student Chapter Advisor Impact Award in 2022.
