If you provide home health care services in New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County, or Westchester County, a state law called the Home Care Worker Wage Parity Act affects your pay. This law has been around since 2012, but many home care workers don’t know exactly what it provides.

What Does the Wage Parity Act Require?
The Home Care Worker Wage Parity Act says that if you’re a home care worker in one of the counties listed above, your employer must pay you a base wage plus extra money, called “supplemental” compensation.
Your employer can give you this extra money in one of two ways:
Cash paid straight to you, or
Benefits, like health insurance.
